Fresh Take - The Legend of Zelda Tears of The Kingdom Presentation Thoughts

 Available on Nintendo's YouTube channel

Thoughts

So today we got a 10-minute presentation giving a few details about the latest entry of the Legend of Zelda series. It was hosted by Eiji Aonouma and while we didn't get any real story beats, not that anyone should have expected that, we did get a first look at some of the new game mechanics that will be used in the new adventure. These new additions will be great from a strategic and just creative aspect. One of the things I enjoyed from the presentation was the emphasis on creativity while traversing the environment.

Recall

This is the first new ability that was introduced and it basically allows for time to be reversed on a particular object. We saw how this worked in the previous trailer and even all the way back to the first trailer as well. Now we have a name to go along with this ability.

Fuse

This is the ability I think will be getting the most use. As the name implies this ability allows for objects to be used together for various effects.  This ability will looks to be the most impressive to me just for the aspect of fusing things together and seeing what happens.

Ultrahand

Much like the Fuse ability, this ability allows for materials to be bonded together. In the presentation, this was shown in battle as well as in creating "vehicles" for traversal. If you have seen any of the previous trailers this ability is how those traversal "vehicles" were created.

Ascend

Remember in the first trailer and in the promotional screens showing looking almost phasing through a building. Well, this ability is how that is done. All I see in the future is mind-numbing puzzles using this ability. It's about as straightforward of an ability as you can get.

Overall

I enjoyed the presentation. It was short, quick, and to the point. Nothing was spoiled in the way of story and Link's new abilities are very interesting. What did you think about the presentation? Please leave a comment and let's talk about it. Thanks for reading and don't forget to follow the YouTube, Twitch, and Discord channels. I look forward to hearing from you.
