Fresh Take - The Adam Project

 Available on NetFlix

My Thoughts

It's been a while I know but I thought I would give blogging another try and this time stick with it. So The Adam Project is out on Netflix and stars Ryan Reynolds as a time traveler who goes back in time to not save the world and prevent a terrible future (which is what I thought at first) but to actually save his wife. This movie pretty much has everything that people love about Ryan Reynolds but it doesn't go too far and never goes overboard. The standout to me in the movie is Walker Scobell who plays the young version of Ryan's Adam character. If they ever want to bring Kid Deadpool to the screen MCU I think you have him. Walker does a great job of matching Ryan's quips with equal timing it's really amazing to see. There is a lot to like about this movie in my opinion. First of all, I think the story is told well and the pacing is tight. The CG is not bad and in my opinion not overly done to the point where it drags the scenes down. The action is shot well and scenes don't drag on forever. There is something that I found interesting is that there are a limited number of henchmen. Usually in movies like this the villain seems to have a neverending supply of henchmen but not here and I appreciate the writers for doing that. Also, the cast is great here. Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo are great together as Adam's parents. Zoe Saldana is also good for the limited time that she is in the movie. The movie is kind of a love letter to 80s films of this type.

Here's the thing that I feel was not really good was Catherine Keener's villain. Keener herself isn't bad but I just didn't like the way it was written, it just wasn't interesting to me. Also, some of the characters do feel like glorified cameos which isn't bad but was annoying to me.

For Parents

This movie is fine for the kids there isn't anything in it that is egregious or too over the top. If the little ones watch any superhero movies this is pretty much like that. The movie isn't long either clocking in at an hour and forty-five minutes. It's paced exceptionally well and I thought that actually helped as it made the movie feel tight and getting straight to the point and not dragging along.

Final Thoughts

You should probably watch this movie. In my opinion, it is very good and perfect for a Friday or Saturday night. Check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks for reading and I appreciate all the support.
