Nintendo Mini Direct Available on Nintendo's Website or YouTube Channel
On Tuesday this week, Nintendo decided to drop a mini direct partner showcase. These partner showcases are usually filled with games from 2nd and 3rd-party teams and for the most part, have been pretty good. Usually, I feel that a Direct is good if there are at least 3 games that pique my interest or at the very least have me interested in learning more. Personally, this presentation just wasn't that good to me. I struggled for a few days trying to put my thoughts together and even watched the presentation again. However, I kept coming to the same conclusion. Now don't get me wrong, I am sure for a lot of people it was an awesome presentation but for me, it just fell flat and I think I may know why it wasn't really hyping me.
For one, while I am glad that Nier Automata is finally coming to the Switch I think that game should have been released earlier in the life cycle. That game was originally released in February of 2017 over five years later. I already purchased the game on my Xbox and I just don't see what Square can add to this game that will entice me to purchase it again. My fear is that there are many in my situation that has already purchased the game on other systems and if it doesn't sell well excuses will be made (unfairly I may add) for other games not to come to Nintendo consoles. Secondly, Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, let's be honest we have seen a lot about this game at this point if you are going to get it, you're going to get it. I did dig the new trailer though but it's basically what you see is what you get. The only other game that piqued my interest was Sonic Frontiers. I don't really know why but I am really liking what I am seeing from the game and the possibilities. Here's hoping that Sega can stick the landing as I love the Sonic Adventure style games and think that this is the natural progression of that style. Everything else was just games that didn't interest me or just plain weren't memorable. I always make sure to go into these presentations with my expectations in check, so I'm not pissed off I guess you can say I'm just underwhelmed with the presentation overall.
So let me know what you thought about the presentation in the comments below? Did you like it? Did you not like it? Let's talk about it. Thanks for reading and sharing this blog if you like the content.
