Episode Thoughts
Yeah, in this episode Chief is pissed and you know what I really can't blame him. After the reveals of the last episode, it's looking like the chickens have come home to roost and the first order of business for the UNSC is finding a scapegoat. With Chief, if varying states of anger in this episode I'm glad that the episode showed that he isn't stupid. With Maake now on Reach (as a viewer you know this won't end well) she only wants to speak to Chief. Which from her point of view, makes sense as they are alike in the fact that they are both similar. Their interactions this week were well done. The writers are doing a good job of making Maake feel like she isn't going to screw them all over the first chance she gets, however, as a viewer I'm just waiting for the sudden and inevitable betrayal. The politics within the UNSC were a focal point in this episode and I can see how this will come to a head in the final episodes this season. Halsey once again proves that when it comes to ethics she clearly skipped class that day. I have to give the actress credit she is doing an amazing job I just know that if I ever meet her in real life I would be overly cautious. There was no Kwan or Madrigal this week which I am thankful for as that story has not been interesting in the slightest to me. This week the episode is short clocking in at 48 minutes in runtime. I like these shorter episodes as I feel like there isn't any fluff in them. They get to the point and it works for me. Cortana continues to be the MVP of the season. I like how she is utilized I'm hoping that within the next couple of episodes Chief starts to trust her more as I do like their banter.
Overall
I have to give the series credit it's getting better. They are still mixing lore together but hey at the very least it is working from a narrative standpoint. I'm looking forward to discussing this one with Vikki on Sunday's podcast. Leave a comment and let me know what you thought about this week's episode.
