Thoughts
Are they trying to make me hate Dr. Halsey? If so good job, it's working. This episode picks up where the last one left off with Halsey, Chief, and company on their way to the planet where he lived as a child. The whole episode gave the feeling that something was off with Halsey. Ever since removing his emotional suppression chip Chief has been behaving more and more human also his memories are coming back which is not good as to what this could mean to Halsey and the entire UNSC Spartan program. Once again the flashbacks were well done and did a lot to flesh out much of Chief's storyline. Back on Reach Spartan 125 aka Kai removed her chip as well which led to some rather interesting dialog and actions that she took throughout the episode. She and the other Spartans were with Miranda Keyes and their interactions were actually another one of the things with the episode that I liked. It goes without saying that I don't really care for the Miranda character but it's actually good to see another Spartan not act so robotic. I'm hoping the other two on the team take their chips out too at some point.
If there is anything I don't really care for it is the Kwan storyline. I just think it's the weakest element of the show. Unless something big happens there in the next few episodes this is going to feel like an unnecessary filler. In this episode especially, every time they cut to Madrigal I was thinking to myself can we get back to Chief or Kai because that's where the interesting stuff is happening. Although there is an action sequence that happens on Madrigal it came too little too late for me in the episode.
For Parents
There is some nudity in this episode though nothing too revealing or scandalous. There are a couple of action sequences but no gore and there is the aftermath of an alien autopsy. The episode runs at about 55 minutes much like the previous episodes. Once again the episode ends on a cliffhanger that has me wanting to see what happens next.
Final Thoughts
Compared to other weeks I thought this episode was pretty solid and kept in line with how the show has been presented. Although I am starting to think that the episodes are a bit too long and some of the side plots can be cut down a little. No Covenant in this episode but I think that works to the episode's advantage as we know where Maake is headed per the last episode. So what did you think of this week's episode? Leave a comment and let's talk about it. As always thanks for reading and supporting the blog.
